Thank You Royal Canadian Legion Branch 447!

Zachary Dickson of the Sarnia Bluewater Wrestling Club accepts a $2000 donation from the  Royal Canadian Legion Branch 447

The money was raised through the Catch the Ace fundraiser at the Legion and will go to support youth wrestling in Lambton County.  The Sarnia Bluewater Wrestling Club is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1976 with the initiative to support youth athletes in the sport of Olympic Freestyle Wrestling.  We greatly appreciate the support of the Legion Branch 447.

IMPORTANT NOTICE — Youth Wrestling for 2022

The primary concern of our coaches is to ensure your safety and that we offer our program in a manner that follows the Ontario Wrestling return to play protocols and those rules of our local health unit and school boards. Coach VanderSlagt and Coach Burke have been in planning on how we can run a season for 2022.

Our plan has been to begin in late January / early February at St Patrick’s Catholic HS and run sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays as:

  • 6:00pm to 7:00pm — grades 5 and under
  • 7:00pm to 7:15pm — clean the mats
  • 7:15pm to 8:40pm — grades 6, 7, 8

We have sent in our permit application to the Community Use of Schools and have purchased the required insurance through Ontario Wrestling. What we don’t have is a clear picture of what is actually going to be allowed to happen in a safe manner.

Our decision to run a program at this time is flexible and totally dependent on outside forces beyond our control. We ask that you check back here for updates or contact us at

Wrestlers Supporting the Community – Irish Miracle

We want to give a big thanks to all of our sponsors and supporters during these difficult times. To help give back, and work with the community, the Sarnia/Bluewater Wrestling Club will be outlining each month how our supporters help us make the community a better place to live.

On the first Saturday of December, St. Patrick’s Catholic High School runs the Irish Miracle: a food, gift and donation drive to support the St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper program. In years past, this has meant wrestlers out on the streets collecting donations. With 2020 changing the format to an online donation drive, the Sarnia/Bluewater Wrestling Club has put together a $200 donation to support the 37th Irish Miracle.

Thank you to St. Patrick’s Catholic High School for all of your support over the years. We’re happy to give back and help this worthy community cause.
